He reaches out, so distressingly gently, to lightly run his fingers along the swell. Nevi doesn't even have to look up to watch her face for a reaction, or to listen for one for that matter, not when he can simply sense any shift within her. ]
[ suzu subtly grits her teeth when he very gently presses against the sore spot on her ankle where she tweaked it after her tumble. her breath hitches and she knows she doesn't even have to verbally express what's wrong because she knows he's already attuned to her thoughts.
and she exhales through pursed lips, lowering her head. ]
[ There, huh. Nevi lets out a quiet sigh, rubbing the back of his neck thoughtfully before he finally leans down and presses the softest, most gentle kiss he can against the spot. ]

her lips form a tiny pout and she wiggles forward to touch his cheek in thanks. she's a pathetic sight, disheveled top and ripped shorts and even if she's managed to mask how she got a little teary-eyed over her pain, she's too tired to put more work into her usually impeccable appearance. ]

[ He tips his head, just a touch, toward the fingers against his cheek before he abruptly turns around to present his back to her. Nevi glances over his shoulder, arms out to the side as though waiting for something. ]

[ suzu's voice sounds smaller than it normally does as she climbs onto his back as she always does, this time awkwardly since she's trying to baby her poor ankle. with one arm around him, fingers curled into the front of his shirt ( for safety reasons, obviously ), she grabs the lantern and holds it aloft to light their way. ]
[ Nevi hooks his arms under Suzu's legs as she climbs onto him. He tries to help her out as well as he can but he doesn't want to aggravate her injury further. ]

[ The wavelength is always one and the same, isn't it? Nevi smiles faintly as he finally pushes himself up to his feet, grunting slightly with the new weight on his back. It isn't as though he's not used to carrying her, it's just that normally she's just jumping onto him from a height. He doesn't usually have to push himself up with her.
He adjusts once he's standing, shifting her weight a little into something more comfortable for them both before he finally sets off. ]
I swear between you and Nim it's a wonder I ever get any sleep.
[ she laughs and nuzzles her nose against blond tufts of hair, affectionate despite ongoing circumstances. ] You love me more, right? [ and suzu grins confidently, certain that he can feels waves of it before she even has to say anything about it.
